Have you already upgraded your camera softwares? I mean the one inside your digital camera?
I did twice for the Nikon Coolpix 5000 and will probably do it soon for the Nikon D70 when the next firmware is available as it will make the autofocus work better.

It is always a little stressing because if something goes wrong, the camera can be locked and you have to send to Nikon for fixing it.

What is the benefit of an upgrade firmware?

What is the benefit of an upgrade firmware?
It depends. Usually it is for fixing some bugs, sometimes for adding the RAW format but per example for the one I am waiting it does the following:
The firmware update includes the following additions and refinements:

Improved performance for the 5-area autofocus system's Dynamic Area AF and Closest Subject Priority Dynamic Area AF modes.

Updated menus with a new design similar to that of the D70s, making them easier to view and quicker to recognize.

Added in-camera page setup support for PictBridge compatible printers.

The autofocus on the D70 is already fast but if it can be improved, why not to upgrade it. Same if the menu system is improved :D

Sophia, I just did a quick search for D60 firmwares and according to what's written here (http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=DownloadDetailAct&fcategoryid=314&modelid=7495#firmware):
EOS D60 Firmware Version 1.0.4 resolves the following issues, which may occur in the RAW mode depending on shutter release timing:

Thumbnail image is black.
Data is not written to CF card (or microdrive).

If you take photos mostly in jpg, you really do not need to update your firmware :)

All the details are here (http://support.nikontech.com/cgi-bin/nikonusa.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=13580&p_created=1116261036&p_sid=MMu1_DFh&p_lva=13580&p_sp=cF9zcmNoPTEmcF9zb3J0X2J5PSZwX2dyaWRzb3J0PSZwX 3Jvd19jbnQ9OCZwX3Byb2RzPTE5LDU2JnBfY2F0cz0xODYmcF9 wdj0yLjU2JnBfY3Y9MS4xODY7Mi51MCZwX3NlYXJjaF90eXBlP WFuc3dlcnMuc2VhcmNoX25sJnBfcGFnZT0x&p_li=&p_topview=1)

What is new/Content Description
Issues addressed with firmware version 2.0
Performance of the 5-area AF system has been improved (Dynamic area and Closest subject AF-area modes).
Changes have been made to the design of menu displays.
Page-size settings can now be applied from the camera with direct printing from a PictBridge-compatible printer.
The number of exposures remaining, displayed in the control panel and viewfinder, when shooting at an image-quality setting of NEF (RAW) or NEF+JPEG Basic has been changed (the number is calculated based on the size of compressed RAW file).
Maximum number of exposures displayed when a 256-MB CompactFlash memory card is used:

Version 2.00: NEF (RAW): approx. 44 exposures; NEF+JPEG Basic: approx. 39 exposures
Version 1.03 or earlier: NEF (RAW): approx. 23 exposures; NEF+JPEG Basic: approx. 21 exposures

The default setting for camera clock has been changed from 2004.01.01 to 2005.01.01. Now you cannot set the clock back to a date before 2004.12.31.
A problem that sometimes caused communication between the camera and computer to be unexpectedly terminated when using Nikon Capture Camera Control has been corrected. (Windows)

I just installed it and the new menu is VERY nice compared to what it was before, and the autofocus looks faster too. I need to go out to try but I have to wait for the Dell delivery first :D
