This Easter-Sunday (Orthodox church) we are going to visit my parents in the little village in Pelion that they live and we will come back in Athens on Monday with many photos and hope the Extender is as good as i have read on reviews.

Can't wait :D
It would be so sad if she forgets it. LOL
I understand why you can't wait :D I was thinking about the same thing for the Sigma (the x1.4 too, not the x2 that costs the same but doesn't give the same good quality) but those little converters are expensive. It's about 200 euro for the Sigma. I think I will save money for a macro lens first :)

Douma 04-28-2005, 04:35 AM I couldn't even think that she could forget it!! :D
The Canon extender costs in Spain 295 euros.I want to buy a macro lens too,and i was thinking about Sigma 105/2.8 macro or the Canon EF 100/2.8 macro USM
I know that the Canon lens costs about 500 euros here, but i don't know the price of the Sigma
SOOOOO? Did you get a chance to try the converter? I hope for your daughter's life she didn't forget it :D
The Sigma is about 450 euros so for the little difference I think you'll go with Canon ;)
There is also the Tamron 90mm macro that is an excellent lens. A lot of good lenses in that "100mm macro" category!
Another macro lens (more expensive, about 700 euros) is the Sigma 150 2.8 HSM. It gets great reviews in paper magazines.

Douma 04-30-2005, 03:40 AM :D She came yesterday night with my extender :D I took some photos inside because it was too dark outside and i'm very happy with the results.
In two hours we are going to go at my parents village and i will check the extender there :D
Thanks for the info of the macro lenses :)
Douma 05-03-2005, 12:00 PM Here are two photos with the extender+70-200 :)

Very nice :)
I know you keep the same autofocus speed but is the lens less fast? I mean, instead of f4 does it become a f5 per example?
Olly
Douma 05-04-2005, 04:13 AM Yes,instead of f4 it would become f5.6,but here it's sunny most days of the year and i believe that i would hardly need f4 for outside photos except when i need less depth of field.
The lens isn't less fast with the extender or i have not noticed it yet
The exif of the photo of the sparrow (morning)
f 5.6
ISO 100
shutter speed 1/250sec
focal length 280.mm
and the swallows (sunset)
f 6.8
ISO 200
shutter speed 1/500sec
The only problem is that i feel the camera more heavy with the extender, but i don't know if it's due to the weight of the extender or due to the inflammation that i have these two past days in my carpus
It could feel heavier maybe because it's longer and the weight is not well balanced? Maybe a battery grip can fix it?
I hope your inflammation problem will be fixed quickly. I also have a problem, but with the finger clicking on the mouse. Probably because of a bad position when using the computer!
Olly
Douma 05-04-2005, 08:47 PM It would be better with a battery grip for sure,i will wait to see if it's due to my inflammation and if not,i would think about the battery grip or a good tripod
I also had problem with my finger and maybe it's sounds silly, but i have a very tiny stuffed dog and i put it below my carpus during clicking,it's like a little pillow and i have not problem with my finger since :)
You should take a photo of your stuffed dog :D
My pain disappeared (less computer use this weekend). I hope your hand is doing better. What about trying to use the left hand when using the mouse?
