Does anyone have an opinion on the Canon EOS Digital Rebel? I am only a hobbyist photographer, but I do like some features of this camera, such as 6.3 megapixel and compatability with several lenses.

I am curious to know if anyone owns the camera, or is familiar with it. Perhaps there is something better in this price range?

Thanks
Courtney

I believe that Mandy has that camera. If you want an SLR where you can change lenses it would probably be a good choice. I am really only a hobbyist as well and I would rather not have to buy or carry around extra lenses. I love my camera. It's a Panasonic DMC FZ20. It has a 12 times zoom which I love. It's does everything that I want. :)

It is a great camera but if you want to take photos using high ISO, the new version is much better. It also starts faster (instantly VS 2-3 seconds with the old version). There is a difference of pixels (8 against 6) but the difference is not that big as it appears.
However, in this price range I do not think you can find better :)

I will get the 350D next week, so if you wait until then, you can get my feedback on the latest version :)

Unfortunately that will not work: Nikon and Canon have a different system and the Sigma I have is made for Nikon only (and also for the Fuji because it uses Nikon system).
I can't wait for the new camera. I need the 1600 ISO for taking photos indoor like at a theater where flash is forbidden. It is less expensive to get the 350D than a very fast lens like f2 etc...

If not, what lens are you going to use with the 350D?Here they don't allow taking photos at the theater with flash or not :(

What?! You're ditching the D70? I'm dissapointed ;) Just curious, what does that Canon XT have that you don't have already with your Nikon?

I am still keeping the Nikon D70, I love it!
The Rebel XT has a serious advantage with its extremely low noise at 800 or 1600 ISO. Here is a picture I took at 1600 ISO and I just reduced it without using any noise reduction software.

The D70 is not bad with noise but the 350D beats it well. At 800 ISO with the Canon, it is like 400 ISO with the Nikon.

I am still looking for my password at pbase so I can upload full size photos there.
