View Full Version : Theme of the week 33: typical/traditional things from your country. Olly 08-15-2005, 11:36 AM This week the theme is something typical/traditional from your country. As this is an international forum, it will be interesting to discover other places :) Olly Courtney 08-15-2005, 03:21 PM Great theme! I think I will go take mine this evening, since I hurt my knee and can't go jogging for a few days.. Cami 08-15-2005, 07:50 PM DUH.... After reading this a little too quickly earlier today I came back because I was just a tad confused. I thought it was Tropical/Traditional instead of Typical.....I was wondering what in the heck I was going to do with the whole tropical thing being in Ohio and all!! Spent way too much time thinking about that one! LOL th3m4sk 08-16-2005, 05:32 AM This is my picture for the theme of the week. A guitar player in the country somewhere in a place called Mafuiane. He took a Castrol can to make is own guitar. http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1220&cat=500&ppuser=47 Douma 08-16-2005, 05:44 AM Anibal this is a really wonderful portrait, great expression and very good B&W Olly 08-17-2005, 10:04 AM Here's mine: http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1226 It can't be more London. LOL Excellent photo Anibal! Colleen 08-17-2005, 02:14 PM those are both great pictures! Typical London and Anibal what a marvellous picture in black and white. Douma 08-18-2005, 01:49 PM I have two photos this week :) A very typical Greek taverna http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1233&limit=recent and a Greek Komboloi http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1234&cat=500&ppuser=3 -Shanz- 08-18-2005, 08:46 PM Im going to have to do some brainstorming for this one... right now all I can think of is Hockey lol. Courtney 08-18-2005, 11:59 PM I'm doing some serious brainstorming as well! For some reason, I can only think of some negative things typical right now, LOL. Is this a trick, Olly? :D Olly 08-19-2005, 10:20 AM Beautiful photos Sophia :) I am hungry now after seeing the photo of the restaurant. LOL Courtney: you have many choices, like an American car, a pick up, a bottle of coca cola etc Here is another photo: http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1244 It is a Citroen 2CV, a typical French car (with the Citroen DS and SM). There are still many of them around in London, more than in Nice per example (and in Nice you see more Mini, the original version, than anywhere else!). More about the 2CV at http://www.citroen.com/CWW/en-US/HISTORY/LegendaryAndClassical/2CV/2CV_1/ Colleen 08-19-2005, 11:49 AM Well you see a lot of these around the Ottawa area for sure. Everyone loves to stop at a chip stand. I have a couple more pictures in mind but may take awhile to get them. http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1240 Cami 08-19-2005, 02:20 PM Olly, That looks like a 4-door Volkswagon Bug! Douma 08-19-2005, 03:23 PM A 2CV!!We hardly see one in Athens anymore.Classy car :) Courtney 08-19-2005, 05:23 PM Here's mine! http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1246&cat=500&ppuser=20 What is more typical than Hooters? :D Douma 08-19-2005, 05:54 PM Here's mine! http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1246&cat=500&ppuser=20 What is more typical than Hooters? :D Courtney what is Hooters,is it a restaurant?I live so far away and i don't know it :) FlashyFan 08-19-2005, 06:09 PM Well Courtney, I'm sure going to enjoy your explanation :p Maybe their website says it all "Delightfully tacky, yet unrefined". LOL www.hooters.com Courtney 08-19-2005, 06:13 PM Well Courtney, I'm sure going to enjoy your explanation LOL! Hooters is indeed a restaurant that serves "American" style food. The attraction (so I'm told) is the waitresses. They wear very short shorts and small tops and have a very large chest "area" :D If anyone is familiar with Pamela Anderson (she's Canadian!) -- that is what comes to mind :) FlashyFan 08-19-2005, 06:18 PM Courtney, I'm impressed! Your explanation was descriptive but within the bounds of decorum. Your picture is great by the way, it's so perfect for the theme! Douma 08-19-2005, 06:20 PM Courtney thanks for the explanation.Would they allowed you take photos from inside? Looking the site that Lisa mentioned i just remember that i have seen something like this on tv before :D Your photo fits great to the theme of the week Courtney 08-19-2005, 06:24 PM Would they allowed you take photos from inside? Douma, I am pretty sure they would let you take a picture from the inside if you were a customer. Courtney, I'm impressed! Your explanation was descriptive but within the bounds of decorum Whew, thank you. That doesn't always happen :) Colleen 08-19-2005, 09:25 PM :) Hooters!! we have one here but I haven't been in there yet and I don't think I intend to either LOL good place to keep your better half out of:) Checkers 08-20-2005, 06:46 AM Heres my themed pic :D Its a (badly taken, as zoomy as my camera gets) picture of the Sky Tower and a stick poking out of the mud flats lol. Its Auckland city central surrounding it. I cut off the top off the tower though! Oops! http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1248&cat=500&ppuser=37 Colleen 08-20-2005, 12:55 PM http://www.megapixelworld.com/photography/showphoto.php?photo=1247&cat=508 I would say this is a tradition, skating on the Rideau Canal, its the longest skating rink in the world. It has made the Guiness Book of Records. You can skate, walk, push sleighs. Best of all you can eat some Beaver Tails http://www.razzledazzlerecipes.com/canada/beaver-tails.htm. In the summer you can boat or take a tour boat or job along the shore. We have the Royal Canadian Mounted Police but not so easy to get a picture of them. :) Douma 08-20-2005, 04:42 PM Colleen your photo is very nice and skating to work is the best way to start the day,fun and athletic :D Douma 08-20-2005, 04:44 PM Its a (badly taken, as zoomy as my camera gets) picture of the Sky Tower and a stick poking out of the mud flats lol. ! [/url] I like the way you framed the photo with the city and the stick :) -Shanz- 08-20-2005, 09:59 PM lmao Courtney good one. It was pretty good :) If you want food that really sucks, come to London and I will show you some places I got sick for two days with fever... Does they sell the cattle heads, people buy them for decor or something else? FlashyFan 08-23-2005, 04:29 AM They do sell the cattle heads. I didn't ask how much. :p I've seen people using them as decor in their garden or at their front door and it kind of reminds me of old western movies. However, I don't think I'd ever buy one! Douma 08-23-2005, 04:43 AM They do sell the cattle heads. I didn't ask how much. :p I've seen people using them as decor in their garden or at their front door and it kind of reminds me of old western movies. However, I don't think I'd ever buy one! I have seen that on tv and i thought that they don't use them nowadays, but it's very good people keep the tradition :) |
