View Full Version : Internet service
Douma 09-18-2005, 11:11 AM I wonder what kind of internet connect you all have.I have dial up and it's very slow epsecially when i want to open pages with photos,DSL is very fast but the cost is too high in Greece,so it isn't option for the moment.
Am i the only one with dial up?
I have ADSL an it cost $40 Canadian a month. :)
Hi Sophia, I hope you will get a fast connection soon at a good price. It must be annoying to wait with the large photos. In London I am using a 2 mb ADSL for about 40 euros and in France my parents are using a 8 mb ADSL for 30 euro (and it includes unlimited free calls in France).

Douma 09-19-2005, 01:44 PM Using dial up i pay from 30 to 50 euros a month.
Now the 1mb ADSL costs about 30 euros a month and they said that the prices would go down soon....i'm waiting...
Courtney 09-19-2005, 05:08 PM Hi Sophia,
I'm using a 5mb DSL service (WIFI). My Internet Service is combined with my Cable Television, so I think I pay $115 or so per month. According to todays exchange rate, that is about 95 Euros. :)

For Cable Television i pay 56 euros a month :)
Stop the cable television and take the DSL instead! :D
Can you imagine I have no TV anymore in London? I was just watching news anyway and I found out that I could get them online. And all the French video news online as well. You also have your local radio online.

You're smart for having no TV. Who needs it, anyway? :)
I have learned that I only watch 'The Daily Show' and 'Curb Your Enthusiasm'. That's 1 hour total, so I fear I am paying too much. I wonder if I can get that online?
Checkers 09-19-2005, 11:45 PM Lol no tv!?! Im home far too often to have no tv :P
I FINALLY convinced my dad to upgrade to ADSL from dial up. He got so sick of me always being on the internet and occupying the phone line. Its great :D I only notice how fast web pages actually come down after I go over my 1GB limit and get taken back to 56k :( , its more the downloads that are extra speedy :D
KAZOO 09-20-2005, 08:56 AM Sophia, if you spend a lot of time on the Internet, I would strongly suggest you get yourself ADSL. It is definately worth the money, and your pc will fly. Cant for the life of me remember what we pay for it, but will find out and let you know.

My husband watch tv,i don't,because most of the time i'm in front of the monitor of the pc :D

and please if you remember tell me what pack do you have.

I think it's better that you can go back to 56k.ADSL here is expensive, because when you go over the limit, won't go back to 56k,but would pay for every mb severally and finaly it would get very expensive
By not using tv, I also save £120 a year (tv license). That's almost worth 3x1GB compact flash cards :D
I read that Greece holds the record as the country with the most expensive fees in Europe on ADSL services.
Here is a forum for you: http://www.adslgr.com
I think if you do not download huge files (or watch video), even with 1Gb a month you should do well. ADSL is expensive but you would save time, and time is money ;)

Unfortunately that's right :(

I don't download huge files, moves or watch video. The problem is that getting the cheaper pack,i couldn't change from ADSL to dial up and it's necessary for me,because i use the laptop to connect to web when i go at my parents house, also my daughters use the dial up with another pc,if i get the cheaper pack of ADSL i wouldn't use other pc,but this with the router modem.
Thanks for the link,it's useful! :)
