I recently realize that i love taking photos of dragonflies, they are beautiful creatures!!
As for approachability,i want to ask you if you know anothing about their habbits, time of the day,if they love dry or green places, temperature etc
Thank you :)
I like to take them in photos too. They are hard to approach and with the Canon Pro90 I need to be at around 30cm to focus well (when using the 500D macro lens). What I know about them is they eat a lot. I read somewhere they can eat hundreds of insects daily, so any place near water with many insects would attract them I believe :)

Thank Olly,it's very rare to see a dragnofly here and this is the first year that i see them. They are 3-4 and it's very hard to approach them,i want to try with the 70-200,but i'm afraid that i havn't good results.
Here is where i found them,it's a rocky hill and everything is dry now http://www.boxerworld.com/photo/showphoto.php/photo/20650/cat/500/perpage/12/sort/3/ppuser/1237
I am surprised you found them there as it looks very dry indeed!
I thought they needed to live close from water. All my photos were taken in France but I did see some dragonflies here in London in some parks near fountains.
The three following photos were taken next to my parents pool:

100-150 m.away and all around the hill there are houses and in some of them there is a pool, maybe they came from there.
Your photo of the dragonfly eating is so precious!!(The link doesn't work)
It is in the same botanic garden as the one we saved from drowning a few months ago
I couldn't imagine that a creature that lives so close to the water would drown!

No I haven't taken any photos. They do seem to always be around water and they say here that if you have dragon flies around your pond that means your pond is very good. I have goldfish and frogs and dragon flies around my pond. Also maybe because we work in swimming pools we see them often.
