Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and share all the pictures on your PC. Every time you open Picasa, it automatically locates all your pictures (even ones you forgot you had) and sorts them into visual albums organised by date with folder names you will recognize. You can drag and drop to arrange your albums and make labels to create new groups. Picasa makes sure your pictures are always organised.
You can download it from http://picasa.google.com and it is free. It works only on Microsoft Windows 2000 or XP.
I am currently trying it and find it very easy to use, especially for organising photos :)

I tried Picassa and I didn't like it. It seemed to do some strange things when it organized my pictures.

It relies on EXIF information contained into your photos, so if your camera did not have the right date/time or if for some reason the EXIF data was erased (by saving/editing photos per example), the organisation of photos can vary.
I found the new version much better than the first one :)
Here is one review about it:

I remember what else I didn't like about it. It saved things really weird and wouldn't let you choose he file name. The later versions may be better as it was about a year ago that I tried it. Maybe I should try it again as it did have some good features. :)

Olly, I just tried it. It is very similar to the program I have for my camera. The thing is when my PC was in the shop they backed up everything for me but when I hit from the start menu my pictures it only showed me what I recently uploaded and I couldn't find my pictures unless I searched for them. Now the program has found them all for me and put them in order of dates again. You don't know how much you have solved my problem and how happy I am right now XX

I downloaded Picasa2 15-20 days ago and i like the functions "color temperature"and the "fill light",many times i use them on a photo before post-processing to photoshop, but i'm bored to wait Picasa upload the photos that i have on the hard disk, thus i use ACDsee as a viewer. :)

I've used Picasa for awhile now and find it great. Except now when I want to email something a box opens and says choose profile, and it shows Corel 8 setting?? I don't know what happened, any ideas from those of you that use Picasa?

I've never used to email someone. The thing I don't like about Picasa is that you can't choose how you want to save changes. I find it really irritating. :)

Did it asked you if you want it use the Corel 8 settings before and you said yes?I always use the outlook to sent photos and i tried Picasa right now to see what will happen and a window displayed with 3 options, but nothing about Corel:
Microsoft outlook
Gmail
Picasa mail
If i were you i wouldn't try to fix it,just uninstall and download it again that's the easier way ;)

Go to "Tools" and then "Options" and then "Email". You should be able to select what email program you want to use.

Sophia, it never said that before, and I always use Outlook. I check tools etc and it says outlook there also but I still get corel 8. I tried downloading the new picasaII and I still get it, maybe I will delete both and see what happens. Deleting it and downloading it again, will I loose my pictures?

Do you have the corel 8 in your pc?Do you had it designated as the e-mail program you want to use?

You shouldn't lose your pictures. I deleted Picasa once and didn't lose anything. :)

Why are you using Picasa to send your photos? I always just use my email and just use 'insert' to add photo's

Sophia , no I have never used corel 8 for any email.

Jan, when I use the program zoombrowser that come with my canon I just click and drag pictures on my desktop then I resize them etc with picasa It won't let me do that, so I email them to myself and then resize etc.

I use outlook to send photos, but i just tested Picasa and this is the way that i sent a photo :
Open a photo
At the botton of the screen there is an Email icon, click on this
A new screen open with 3 options(Microsoft outlook-Gmail-Picasa mail)
I selected the first one using the outlook.

I don't know about profile,i was never asked to choose one

Douma

Maybe this would help you about the profile:
Open picasa
tools
options
E-mail
Check only these options you want

Colleen

I open picasa
pick a picture
hit email at the bottom
right away a box opens saying choose profile
In this box it has outlook, corel 8,
I hit outlook but I get some other which I think is Picasa email and it doesn't work.

before when I would hit the email icon outlook would just appear ??

I went to tools, etc still doens't work..oh well..

I had picasa ii, then deleted it and downloaded it again as someone suggested and still it doesn't work. I'm starting to think it may be something else wrong somewhere.
