Happy Thanksgiving!

In the US, Thanksgiving is on November 24th. I will be in Minneapolis (in the freezing cold -- running a 5k on Thanksgiving morning actually) :D

Colleen, what is a traditional Canadian Thanksgiving day like? Similar to the US?
The last Thursday in November (US Thanksgiving) in our family includes: turkey, stuffing, bread rolls with butter, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, baked sweet potatoes and for desert pumpkin pie. (We have some other family favorites like cranberry salad, green beans with almonds, some kind of salad with dried fruits & nuts) Preparation of the food lasts all day (with some things done the day before). The young kids play games and run around in yard while the overly full adults talk and sometimes watch a football game. Can't wait :) It's all about the bountiful FOOD and being thankful for the opportunity to be together as a family.

P.S. Courtney, you deserve to eat whatever you desire that day since you're running the 5K. No guilt for you :)

Yum sounds just like christmas day here, but with either chicken, lamb or ham instead :)

Ive always thought pumpkin pie is a little wierd tho. Is it sweet or savoury? Like does it taste like normal pumpkin, or is it loaded with sugar? :)

Thanksgiving here is much like it is in the U.S. Turkey with all the fixings and Pumpkin Pie for desert. Pumpkin pie is definitely sweet, with spices like ginger, cinnimon, nutmeg, eggs, milk and brown sugar. It's really good.

Lol does it still end up tasting like pumpkin after all of those spices? :)

Maybe a little bit. You can make very similar pies with squashes and sweet potatoes. It really is good. You should try it. :)

I see that, Colleen. Same yummy foods... you just get to enjoy them earlier in the year than we do. Actually, I think I might prefer Thanksgiving in October (not so close to Christmas). Hope you had a really good one :)
