View Full Version : firmware updates? Colleen 10-26-2005, 07:27 PM I just received a firmware update for my Rebel XT was wondering if anyone else received one? Courtney 10-26-2005, 07:31 PM I did not! What is it? Colleen 10-26-2005, 07:35 PM This is the link I received. I think I'm going to take mine to a Canon dealer and have him fix it. Doing it yourself looks scary. http://canoncanada.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/canoncanada.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?p_faqid=4133&p_created=1117634092 Olly 10-26-2005, 07:51 PM Thanks for the link! I have upgraded the firmware of the Canon Pro90, Nikon Coolpix 5000 and the Nikon D70. It is very easy to do it. Just be sure your battery is well charged :) I do not see the interest to upgrade in this case as I have none of the problems listed below. This firmware update (version 1.0.3) includes the following additional functions and improvements: 1. Fixes the phenomenon of shots being unable to be taken when using the remote controller RC-1. 2. Fixes the phenomenon wherein the camera continues to scroll through images being played back. 3. Improves reliability in communication when using some CF cards. Douma 10-26-2005, 08:34 PM Just be sure your battery is well charged :) . The Coupler cord didn't included in the package with your camera? Olly 10-26-2005, 08:40 PM I did the upgrade using the compact flash, not using the USB port of the computer, so I think you only do it with a well charged batterie? That said, it took only like 30 seconds with all the cameras :) Douma 10-26-2005, 08:48 PM When i have to clean the sensor i would take off of the camera the battery and insert the DC coupler, better safe than sorry :D Olly 10-26-2005, 08:50 PM I disagree with you :p I think the risk of having a power outage is higher than to have a failure with a fully charged battery ;) Douma 10-26-2005, 09:07 PM I think the risk of having a power outage is higher than to have a failure with a fully charged battery ;) You are right about the risk of the outage power,i followed the instructions of the manual and i didn't thought that!! |
