I have two batteries and when i use one of them the low battery sign would appear just after a few shots, seems that this battery goes death. What your experience with the battery life?Do you deeply dicharge the battery before you recharge it again and how many photos would you take with a fully charge one?
The Nikon D70's battery lasts for days/weeks of use! I can take over 1,000 photos when I do not use the flash. I try to empty the battery before recharging but it is taking time. LOL I have 3 batteries for the D70.
The Canon 350D is less powerful (small battery capacity with 650 mAh against 1,450 mAh for the D70) but about 600-800 photos can be taken. The battery warning signal comes quickly but nothing to worry in fact: you can still take at least a hundred photos. I have 2 batteries.
With the Canon Pro90IS, the battery life was short even with 1,250 mAh but that is because of the electronic viewfinder/LCD screen and the image stabilizer. I could take about 160 photos before the battery was empty (and when you see the warning signal it is too late as the battery would die within the next 30 seconds. LOL).
With the Nikon Coolpix 5000, I could not use Nikon's battery because it was good for 80 photos or so especially if I was using the LCD screen. I had to buy the battery pack (it contains 6AA batteries of 2,200 mAh) to be able to use that camera decently. Actually I prefer when a camera uses AA batteries as we can find them anywhere and we do not need specific charger etc.

PS: do not forget you can get batteries for the D60 for about 9 euro each when Canon sells them for 75 euro. I had no problem using no brand battery for years.

With my elf just closing and opening the shutter would use the battery up fast. With my Rebel I can't remember running out of battery life. Usually when I go away I will charge it in the motel room. Ebay is a good place to look for batteries I think. I never let mine run dry.

Have you noticed any difference on the battery's life using RAW and JPEG.I just noticed that when take photos on RAW,the battery would last 3 times less that taking photos on JPEG
I have not noticed a difference between the raw and the jpg, excepted the raw are taking more room ;)
The only difference I noticed was with the use of flash.

Exactly the same difference on the battery life i have noticed between RAW and JPEG,it's like as i use the flash, maybe it's just my camera
