Ok, I was reading the manuel on the rebel xt last night to switch from the nine point focus to only the center focus....and the only thing I found that MAY be what I was trying to do, could only be done in MF....and basically it broadens the center focus point.....I don't know if thats what I am looking to do :D .....the options were something like this

You want to switch to the center point focus or to select a metering mode? These that you describe are the metering modes not the AF points

To switch to center point focus you should switch from 9 points into the center one. When you look through the view finder and press the button you will see 9 red points,if you want to switch to center have to select the desired one
On my camera i push the AF center point focus button and when they become red i turn the dial until i find the desired one and then i would press the set button

Scroll down page and you will see the photo of the back side of the rebel,i believe you shouldn't press the AF button, but the opposide button this that is left to the "set".At least this is the button to set the center focus point on my camera

ok, I will try and play with it when I get home again and see....and you were right, I was looking for the center focus point, not the metering modes. I didn't know what the metering modes were when I was fiddling around with it. :)
thanks for the link to, I am going to look through that now, if I get any time.

What are the benefits of using the centre focus?

What are the benefits of using the centre focus? With the 9 focus points in many cases the zoom goes back and forth and seems never ready to focus or worst when you think that it's in the right focus and then go home and look the photos on the screen and most of them are out of focus  Selecting the center focus point you would be sure that the subject is focused rightly

All the cameras have this? Cause mine i think no, also i wanted to ask if you make a focus on a person and then turn the camera right/left in order to put the person at left/right corner and get a picture you will have the same result if you will do it with this way that you explained ?

I mean i have nine points of focus on my camera and i have the person at right and i put one point focus at right that means that i m not moving the camera so i m absolutely sure that i have it focused.

But if i ll do it with the other way i will move the camera so maybe i will get a non focused shot no?
