Douma 01-06-2006, 10:07 AM I wonder, after the digital cameras do you still use your film camera?I have never used mine after buying the first digital,i just keep it as a backup camera. JanR 01-06-2006, 04:54 PM I just gave mine away as I never use it anymore. Digital all the way! :) Olly 01-06-2006, 07:07 PM I still use the Minolta Dynax 4 sometimes (wonderful viewfinder) and I was even considering buying a film SLR because their price is really interesting now. I like the Nikon F5 and also the old Nikon FM2 (http://www.mir.com.my/rb/photography/hardwares/classics/nikonfmseries/fm2/index.htm). I think they are beautiful objects. The other day I was looking at some photos taken with a film SLR and thought they were great, especially in very bright conditions. I also like slides which is something you can't get with digital SLR ;) Colleen 01-06-2006, 09:32 PM No here too! digital all the way. The other way seems so long ago;) robindepaula 01-06-2006, 10:14 PM OMG, it's been since mid 2004 since I've used my canon elan 7e . . . I'm thinking of putting all my film cameras up on ebay. I carried the elan 7e with me as a back-up, but haven't even done that since buying the digital rebel xt as a back-up to the 20D. I have my portfolio books with 16x20 enlargements to show clients & many still are leary of going with me to shoot their wedding b/c I'm 100% digital - that is until I show them a comparison of a 35mm film enlarged 16x20 next to the quality of the digital captured 16x20 portrait . . . their just isn't any comparison unless you're using medium format camera & lenses. I wanted to go to med-format for the longest time, but couldn't afford it, so I went digital instead. Robin :) Shutterbug 01-07-2006, 12:24 AM No, I haven't used it since I bought a digital. But I'm not ready to sell it either. It's just too nice to part with. Checkers 01-07-2006, 03:59 AM We have an old Olympus that never gets used any more. I dont want to throw it away, maybe one day it will be an antique lol. Olly 01-07-2006, 11:12 PM maybe one day it will be an antique lol. Very likely but for the moment I think my first digicam (an Olympus 1.3 megapixel got at the end of 1999) is becoming more an antique than the film slr because they have stopped to produce smartmedia memory cards while film is still available! :) Checkers 01-08-2006, 12:29 AM Ahh but one day film will be non existant ;) Maybe not in my life time, but eventually I bet! Shutterbug 01-08-2006, 02:19 AM Very likely but for the moment I think my first digicam (an Olympus 1.3 megapixel got at the end of 1999) is becoming more an antique than the film slr because they have stopped to produce smartmedia memory cards while film is still available! :) I wasn't aware of that! That's what my Olympus uses, but I guess I haven't tried to buy one lately. Have you tried e-bay? I guess if I see one for sale I should buy it as a back-up in case something happens to the one I've got. :( Olly 01-08-2006, 02:59 AM Gary, I am sure you can still find them but it would not surprise me if they start to get expensive because they have stopped to produce digicams using the smartmedia for quite a while now. At least my Olympus is running on AA batteries but I worry a little about the proprietary Lithium-Ion batteries on my other cameras... Will they still be produced in 10 years? |
