Thank you. They are not as good as I would like, as the boat was always moving. One day I would like to go back and go on a tour by myself or maybe with only couple of other people that also want to take photos.

Great photos yet again :D That croc is insane! Its creepy the way it looks like he is looking into the camera. Beautiful (and strange) birds too. Love the long necked one :D

wouldn't it be nice if there were special tours made especially for picture takers.:D so you could say STOP I want to take a picture!

I don't really remember. He wasn't very close. The advantages of a 12x zoom. :)

Colleen: I'm sure they do have special tours for birdwatchers. I would love to go on one someday. :)

Great photos Jan! I would love to visit Costa Rica. When I was a kid I almost went there but it was Ivory Coast instead (where I owned two pet crocodiles by the way!).

We even had crocodiles sleeping in the deep area of the pool. Better check the pool before jumping in ;)
You made me think I still need to upload those photos of the garden there at followtheguide.

How big were your pet crocodiles? My pictures, I believe, are actually photos of alligators. :)

Alligators... crocodiles... all have killer instincts and large teeth ;)

About a 130cm or so and I also had a Nile monitor. My first crocodile was a crocodilus niloticus who was very agressive and escaped during the first weeks. The second one was a osteolaemus tetraspis who was very nice, really like a pet and I also got a cayman who was agressive.
At http://photobucket.com/albums/c306/JanMarkus2000/Costa%20Rica/?action=view&current=P1010781700x524.jpg you took a crocodile in photo. You can see well his big fourth tooth in the lower jaw when his mouth is closed. With alligators, you do not see it. There are other differences like the shape of the jaws (in V for the crocodiles, in U for the alligators) too. In fact, there are different families.

Werent you worried about it chasing you and biting off your toes?

LOL Not at all. The gentle one was really gentle. I could put my hand into his mouth and he would not bite and he was making sounds when he saw me. He was even following me.
The two others were quite different. I got bitten 3 or 4 times (a finger once and the legs through the jeans). It was impressive because I got like 30 little holes (the teeth had the size of a rice) in my knee per example but I got bitten once by a little dog and it was more painful.

Haha cool. Gotta say though, I do prefer dogs as pets. Even if the bites hurt more ;) Not that ive ever had a croc as a pet. Too bad you cant get them here :p

I couldn't remember which one it was, but I thought they had said alligators. I am sure you are right. :) My memory is faulty. LOL

Found this that gives you all the explanation :)

It is possible there were alligators and crocodiles but the one in your photo is a crocodile. I am not good at identifying birds but I have no problem with cars, bikes and crocodiles :D

We all have our own areas of expertise! :) Thanks for the info on difference between alligator and crocodiles.
