I may be gone for a bit. I have been having computer problems. My laptop has been shutting off without warning. It has been turning on again without a problem, but it has been getting much worse. It used to only happen when playing certain games, so I thought it was a conflict of some sort. Lately it has been happening much more often. Like when I was uploading files to photobucket, when writing emails and once when I was writing a reply to a thread on this board. We can't figure it out. Tomorrow we are going to back up the hard drive and then format it. We will then start reinstalling things and see if we can figure out what the problem is. :( I always thought it was software problem, though now I'm thinking it could be a hardware problem. :confused:

Has anyone had a problem like this?

One year ago,it happened to my pc and it was a virus,but in mine it happened only when i was on line.The games and other programmes worked fine.

Oh bugger! I hate it when computers dont work. I have 2 comps in my room and my main one has decided that it wont accept my ip address (or something) anymore so I have to use the other one that has no photos or websites on it. Its a pain! Hope they can figure out what is going on, and that it doesnt cost too much :rolleyes:

A good format will probably solve the problem.

That was happening to my hubby's PC, shutting off by itself no problem turning it on though. Then, bang it was completely gone, fried mother board.

Well, we didn't manage to solve the problem. We copied the hard drive to another hard drive. Then we formated the new hard drive and tried to reinstall the operating software. It kept turning itself off. :( I've taken it in to be fixed. It's still under warrenty :), maybe they will give me a new one. :D

I'm now using my deskstop. :)

Now that would be cool :D Thats one of the reasons I never bought a laptop, I heard they are very hard to fix and if they break, thats it. Need a new one. I could be wrong though ;)

I have an extended warranty. They have to either fix it or give me a new one. :)

I have the same with my cp, fix or new one. I think extended warrantes are great when it comes to expensive purchases. cp's and cameras. Hope you get a new one.

Now my desktop is having problems. It doesn't have an extended warranty. Just the one year warranty that it came with, which expires in a few days so I will have to take it in. I am going to have computer withdrawal. :(

Oh No!! what luck, with me now its the same problem I'm having with this NO Profile?? having with word perfect now. I have no idea what a profile is and what went wrong with it:D I guess we know what kind of year we are going to have:D

I sure hope the rest of the year isn't going to continue like this.

Oh crap! At least it was a few days under.. not over the warranty.

Everything is just getting way too mass produced and workmanship is getting so sloppy! Its just gonna get worse :(

We realized that the warranty doesn't expire until Feb 13th. So we will hopefully be able to wait until I get my laptop back before taking the desktop in. Yeah! I wasn't looking forward to no computer at all. :(

Hopefully they will fix it quickly! Things like that never happen at a good time... Like when the dedicated server was down for three hours, of course I was away with limited internet access (dialup).

I still haven't got my laptop back and yesterday, I couldn't even get this desktop to work. Grrrrrr

I got my laptop back. I don't think it has been fixed as basically all they did is replace the hard drive. We had determined that it wasn't the hard drive as we replaced it with a different one and the problem still happened. I guess I will soon find out. :)

:D We sent our TV out once because the on/off switch was broken, took a week to fix, they called back to say it was ready,DH picked it up and they explained what they had done for $100.00 +...:confused: on/off switch still missing:(

Well now its my turn for a broken computer. My modem decided it didnt feel like working anymore, so now I have no internet :eek:

I would get a new modem in a day :D I hate when something happens on my pc

Yep as soon as I get home im going to call the help desk, but I will probably get no where because they are usually useless :rolleyes:

I dont think I can afford a new one. Too expensive!

All fixed! I actually got a helpful help desk guy for once :D It was the filter for the phone line, and they are going to pay for a new one. All is well :D

Sophia when Moe's computer kept shutting off we thought it was his power supply but it was his mother board. I hope its nothing serious.

I called the service and they told me that sounds like it shut off to prevent from overheat.Probable is not something serious and it needs service.I hope so because i didn't back up the files and photos :(

I think we left ours too long and it fried the mother board. I need to back things up I almost never do.

I'm typing on my repaired (i hope :rolleyes: )pc.They said that maybe the problem was the feeder...i don't know if it's the right word...and they changed it with a new one,but told me they are not sure that it was the problem

Well what do you know! My 6 week old laptop is broken :( The hard drive is stuffed and ive lost everything. Photos, uni stuff, videos, everything! I have some photos on the internet which is good (all 12 pages at BW lol and here) but none of the originals of my good photos :( Family photos all gone.

Word of advice to everyone.. back up your stuff!! Id hate for it to happen to any one else.

Yep im definately taking it back monday morning. Luckily I have dads laptop to use in the mean time.

Jan a friend of mine who fixes laptops for a living tried to get my stuff of the HD but had no luck. It was making some pretty funky noises :eek:

Wow it only took 4 hours to get fixed! So much for 4-5 days :D Its so nice to have it back, even if it hasnt got anything on it :rolleyes:
