Finally followed our hearts and purchased our first digital camera... the Canon 20D. My husband and I stuck by our 35mm because weren't convinced we could ever achieve the image quality we were seeking with a digital but I believe we're about to be convinced otherwise!! :D Looking forward to giving the 20D a test run this weekend (wish it weren't raining) and once we get the hang of it I will post a picture or two for your review. Looking forward to learning ... and thankful for this great forum of information and for sharing all your wonderful images!

Thanks for the welcome... we'll certainly be taking many boxer photos this weekend (rain or no rain) as our first boxer puppy ever is coming home! We are also new to Arizona and looking forward to taking pictures of the nature that surrounds us... it's truly amazing and we've heard that spring here is spectacular! Can't wait.

Our 35mm was my husband's wedding gift from me and 10 years later, the 20D is his Valentine's Day gift (although I have to admit it is as much a gift to myself as it is for him :p )....We had been considering the 20D for some time and finally Olly gave us his seal of approval with a link to a lense that might work well for us and that was that ;) Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Welcome to the board! Can't wait to see your photos! The nice thing with digital photos compared to film cameras is the lack of dust/scratch on the photos when they are seen on the computer screen ;)
That lens was well rated on a good photo magazine here, I will try to translate it for you.

Not only on the pc screen, but also on the paper, the new D-SLR cameras are great and better than a SLR (like my Canon Eos 500N,i can't speek about the best pro-cameras SLR or D-SLR)
I have printed some A4 photos and they are much better than photo which taken with a SLR...i could say they are perfect
I have a friend photographer how works with magazines like ELLE etc,he has more that 10 SLR cameras, but his lovely camera is a Nikon D70 and told me that this camera is much better than a analogical for a dimension of the magazine page,if you want to print affice, when you could see the difference and then the SLR could be better than D-SLR.
Olly have you ever printed a A4 photo with your D70?what do you think for the quality?
