After researching the million types of different cameras, I think I am going to purchase the Canon EOS 400D Digital Rebel XTi 10.1MP Digital SLR Camera w/ a Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM Autofocus Lens. (I'm pretty excited!)

Does anyone here have the same camera? If so, which lens do you currently own and why?

I dont have it yet, but thats the camera im getting soon :) Im with you on the excitement! Im thinking of getting the same lens (but the f/1.8 version, its cheaper I think) as well as the kit lens. Worth it for the extra $100 I think.

Thanks for responding to my thread. I wanted to get the same lens as you, but, as I was researching the lens, a couple of people said that the f/1.8 is a good lens, if you can afford the f/1.4, (it's alittle sharper) then go for it. I have to save my $$$ so that I can purchase what I want.

Do you think the camera will go down in price during the Holiday Season? Or after Christmas sale?

Yeah I would get the 1.4, but its a price difference of about $600 for me :eek:

I have found a few places that now sell the kit for about $1500 (down from $1799) so it has come down quite a bit in the short time it has been out. Here's hoping it comes down a bit more before December. More money to spend on lenses that way :D

I got my 400D and love it.. highly reccommended! I also love the 50mm 1.8 lens. Its on the camera all the time except for when I need a wider view (which has been about 3 times). Hopefully it wont be too long before you get it.
