After having troubles getting sharp photos (see this thread (http://www.photoboard.eu/board/showthread.php?p=6709#post6709)) I decided to get a lens known to be very sharp to see if the problem was coming from the camera or the Sigma 70-200.
I have it since yesterday and it is an excellent little lens :D
It focuses quickly and it take sharp pictures even at f1.8. The camera isn't faulty which is good news!
The weather was really crappy here lately so no good pics to show but it should be sunny tomorrow afternoon. I will go to the Battersea Park Children's Zoo (http://www.batterseaparkzoo.co.uk/html/index.html) to take some photos of the Whiskers and Lazuli families ;)
You can see a review of the lens at http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/nikkor_85_18/index.htm

Oooh new toy - I like the results from the lens in the review, shall look forward to seeing your photos :)
So the Meerkats have left the Kalahari and came to Britain for their holidays ;) Say hello to Youssarian if you see him - he's my favourite - slightly mad :D
Yes, I like him too. He is the lunatic "married" to Pancake if I remember well :D
How are you doing with the D40? I see from your photos you had sun lately. It rained maybe 8 times today in London! Plus it is getting cold. It is hard to believe we are in July soon.

I'm enjoying using the D40 and am happy using the viewfinder now, I've not managed to get much practice though, we've had some very hot sunny spells but had thunder & lightening & torrential rain for the past 3 days too - electricity went off 4 times on Thursday and the same yesterday and it was off all last night - its back on now for my morning cappuccino though :)

Not the best because there was a window with a lot of reflection between the monkey and me but it is a funny looking monkey, especially its ears.
Here is the lens attached to the D200:

The weather has been awful this month: windy, rainy, cloudy, and grey sky. And cold. Probably the worst month of June since 2004. At least the electricity is still there ;)
