I got this lens last week :)
It is replacing the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 I gave to my father as it works fine on the D40 and D70.
Compared to the Sigma it is sharper and has an image stabiliser. Its autofocus is very fast, certainly the fastest of all lenses I own. It stays fast even with the image stabiliser on, which isn't the case with the Canon 300 f4 IS. One downside: it is heavy and massive.

Some photos

There is a review of it at http://www.photozone.de/8Reviews/lenses/nikkor_70200_28vr/index.htm

Yes, he likes it :) He is 75 years old and he never used a computer in his life (at the office he was dictating to a secretary) so I got him several 512mb SD cards he can put into a digital frame for viewing the photos. Then when I get there (I was there for 10 days this month) I download the photos into a computer so the cards can be used again.
My father uses it with the 18-55 mostly. I tried the D40 with the 85f1.8 in manual focus and also the 18-135. I really liked it with the 18-135. It is like a very fast bridge camera.
I will post photos soon. With the 18-135 it has some kind of macro ability and the photos were sharp.
