I can't believe I had to put the heater on today  LOL It is supposed to still be summer but the weather is just so crappy. Not only it rains and it is windy but it is also cold.
Anyone else in the Northern hemisphere with the heater on? What about in Scotland? :D

Yes I had to put on the heater at work yesterday for the first time in months but we've never had our heating switched off completely in the house this summer in fact on Sunday I was contemplating getting our wood burning stove going!

Is it the first time you have the heater on during the summer? I believe it is the first time for me in London (for the last 3 years). In fact last Thursday I thought it was cold enough to put the heater on but didn't because it looked silly. Yesterday I thought it would be sillier to catch a cold just because of some principle. LOL

To this point I am only hoping for a nice autumn with lovely colours, I think the summer (if we ever had one) is well over in the UK.

Probably not. I think we were spoilt here last summer, it was very hot for a long time, so of course this summer we expect the same, forgetting that a long hot summer is unusual for us. So today is a perfect example of typical Scottish weather being "dreich" - overcast, misty, drizzling rain and a bit chilly - a day to put the heating on!

Exactly the same weather here... I have the lights on because it is too dark and it is only 2:54.
By the way, I went three times to Scotland and it rained the three times. LOL Next time I go there will be in end of April for a week at least. I will do Edinburg again (it would be the third time in three years) and then drive up to Skye. I hope the weather will be ok :D

You just must have been unlucky ;)

Only been for a quick visit to Skye a few years ago, once we get our camper van finished we're going to go and do more of the islands. You'll need to watch out for the infamous midges! I like Edinburgh we live about 40 miles away so it our closed city.

I think it is because I always went there during the winter.
I got a warning about midges at http://www.undiscoveredscotland.co.uk/usfeatures/midges/ LOL

The worst place ever (because of insects) I visited is the North of Québec, at Forillon (http://www.pc.gc.ca/pn-np/qc/forillon/index_E.asp). While driving there I saw people walking with a net covering their body. I thought they were working with bees etc. When I opened the car's door I understood the reason: tons of black flies and mosquitos LOL So many that I even had some in my mouth, nose, eyes. I lived in Ivory Coast, went to Brazil, Argentina etc but a tropical jungle is nothing compared to that place
At the gas station they were selling nets ;)
If I go back to Canada, it will be during the winter. Safer. I like when things are frozen. LOL

What kind of camper van do you have? I thought about renting it but a bed and breakfast places seem easier.

Your very well travelled :)

We had a similar experience on a camp site in Scotland - never seen anything like it since thank goodness - had on a blue fleece and one of my arms had gone totally black with them, crawling through my hair it was all I could do not to run down the road screaming - it was horrible!!

A bed and breakfast will have a better chance of being midge free than a camper van! I would go with the B&B :D

Our camper van is super small, it's an old Fiat Pandora, in need of some restoration. I don't think these photos really show how small it is! We have to fit in 2 adults and 2 boxers!

Aren't these tiny insects terrible? :D
I have been bitten about 30 times in an hour only. I counted! They looked like mosquito bites but can you imagine they were still irritating 2 weeks later?

The Fiat Pandora looks a little like the VW Combi (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volkswagen_Type_2). It seems both have a rear-engine layout.
How old is it?

For a Fiat it isn't bad at all. Most cars from the 80's are very biodegradable. Had an Alfa33 at that time. They simply disappeared now. LOL

Are you suggesting there may have been a problem with rust back then LOL! We used to have a Alfa 33 a few years back too.

We do have a couple of older Italian cars which are actually on the road - a 25 year old and a 31 year old.

It's SUNNY here today and WARM - YOORAH :) :) :)

The weather was miserable yesterday and still is today. It is raining non stop... The weekend is supposed to be sunny.

The 33 was a fun car. Loved the sound of the engine. I had to stop the engine to be able to pass the rear speed. The gearbox was not very cooperative. By the way, it had a boxer engine :D
You should do a site about your cars :)

Funny that - we got rid of ours after the second gearbox we put in needed replaced!

Now, the website on the cars would be fun - I shall give that some thought :)

It's still sunny here :D

Its winter here and its been so sunny lately. I even went out in shorts and a singlet the other day! So strange considering we just had a really bad summer.

Hops it means good things for this coming summer!

Ok, no complainin' about it being cold in the summer!! It's been above 100' here in North Carolina for the past 30 days straight with only two of those days offering a slight drizzle of rain (neither of them lasting for more than five minutes each). Let's see, scorching heat, devistating drought or cooooooold and rainy. Hmmm.... I'll trade with ya ANY day!!! :D hehehe
