Ordered yesterday and got it by mail today :)
It is a tripod with flexible legs. So far it works well. I tried it on the Nikon D200 (0.8kg) with the 70-200f2.8 (1.43kg) and it was stable.
It weighs only 241g.
It got its name because you can attach it to a branch etc as you can see at http://www.warehouseexpress.com/?PHOTO/tripods/gorillapod.html#PC314222

More about it at http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/slrzoom/
There are other versions (original, SLR) as well: http://www.joby.com/products/gorillapod/

A gadget but a gadget that works! :D
I haven't tried it outside yet but here are some photos of it. It can be a good table minitripod. Also helpful for taking macros of flowers/insects (second photo).
