I want one :D
Love the 100% coverage viewfinder. I don't care much of the megapixel increase but the rest looks very nice.
Waiting for the review!

Oo! Oo! I just found out that I will be getting one in a few months for Mother's day. Woohoo! I'll give ya all the info you want, Olly, when I get it :D
(Unless, of course, you end up getting it before I do - then you can give me all the info on it :p)
Lucky you! However, still a few months to wait... In the UK Mother's Day was celebrated last Sunday :D
I will not upgrade my camera because I got it in June last year and it is still doing very well. I replaced the D70 only after it got very tired (which was after taking over 53,000 photos with it).
There is a review of the D300 at http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/nikon/d300-review/index.shtml
You will love it I am sure :) For me the difference between the D70 and the D200 was amazing, the D200 being a lot more responsive. Also the built quality. It is like a tank. Last year while I was hiking the camera fell on a rock (the shock was loud), I thought it was damaged but it had only a little scratch on the shoe-mount for the flashgun. Luckily the lens was not hit.
What will you do with your current D70S once you get the D300?

I'm really excited about it and I'll make sure to read the article on it - I've read several different things already. My favorite thing, so far, is the fact that it reveals more detail in shadows - like in camera HDR. How do you know how many images that your camera has taken? Is there a counter in it somewhere? I'm curious as to how many I've taken - doubtful it's anywhere near 53,000!
I'm not quite sure what I want to do with the D70s yet. I can't decide if I want to use it just for things like just going to the races, just having it as a back-up OR converting it to a dedicated infrared camera. Or maybe just selling it. I dunno!!! So many choices!! lol. :D
If you get Nikon Capture NX with your D300, you can work with the raw files and extract more details :)
You can get the shutter count information by looking at the exif information of your (last) photo. Here is a software that does it easily:

Thank you so much. I'm curious as to how many I've shot. I'll post the count once I figure it out :D

Just as I thought - nowhere NEAR 53,000!!! 18157 is my number. I need to start taking some more pictures! :D
I just checked on the D200 and it is 31277. I take too many photos...

Whoa!
You do take some pictures, don't ya? But that's awesome - I feel bad that I don't. I'd be a lot better if I did...
I think it is because I take often in continuous mode which is 5 frames/second.

I can see how that will add up over time. I don't take a enough movement photos to utilize that feature enough - Except for when I go to a nascar race or something like that which is not that often.
The D300 with its battery pack has 8 frames/second ;)

Olly - With your D200 are you able to take photos in the mirror lock-up position? That is a feature I would like to have.
