Hey everyone - I was thinking of purchasing a fisheye lens but I was told that it would be pointless because they do not work on didgital cameras. For anyone that has a fisheye lens, did you find this to be true? I would like to get one but if it is a waste of money then I guess there is no point in it.

Thanks

Olly

Good to know! I thought it was a bit odd that I keep seeing photographers use them yet 'pros' were telling me that it would be a waste. I think I'm going to go ahead and get one.

Thanks, Olly. :)

Well, I am not sure if it is going to be a waste but their use is certainly limited ;)
What lens do you plan to get?
I see there are two Nikon fisheye lenses for slr:
http://nikonimaging.com/global/products/lens/af/fisheye/af_fisheye16mmf_28d/index.htm and http://nikonimaging.com/global/products/lens/af/dx/af_dx_fisheye105mmf_28g_ed/index.htm (only for not full frame digital slr).

You can see some photos taken with the Nikon dx fisheye at http://www.digitalsecrets.net/secrets/FisheyeNikkor10.5.html and http://www.pbase.com/cameras/nikon/10_5_28g_dx

Very cool, Olly. Thank you so much for the links. I haven't really decided which one I would like to go with yet but I like the 10.5mm and that "Hyper wide-angle" it has. I could have a lot of fun with one of those.
