My exact question!
Actually they asked me from work to find a camera so they will buy it.
I will use it to take internal pictures of speakers, or in exhibitions, or in press releases.
Until now we had a professional coming each time. Now they know my work better in this field, they suggested buying a camera so I could do the job. The photographers that come from the news agencies have cameras with something really long in front of it, like an elephant’s nose!! Is that extra? I suppose so :o .

Then I will print them or send them by e-mail to the newspapers

As I'm not paying, the cost is not a major problem, but of course I can't suggest something extremely expensive as they (as I!) are not into electronics
I know I have to go into research but I need somewhere to start  !

Hi Selene,

For inside photos, I would use a digital SLR with a fast lens. They are the only ones that can accept a high ISO without getting too much noise in the photos. And they can get a flashgun, if needed.
In short, what about the new Canon 350D? It looks it's doing very well at high ISO and it is well priced. To it, you would need a lens, like maybe the Tamron 28-75 2.8 which is a good fast lens for portrait.
It really depends on how much you can spend on it. Waiting for Sophia' suggestion :)

Olly i made the same suggestion like you to Selene,a Canon 350D or a Canon 20D with the kit lens
On Sunday we plan to go at a dog show and there Selene will see my camera with an elephant's nose :D

I see :)
I think it is always worth taking the kit lens because of the good value but a 2.8 lens would be nice for interior photo. There is also a good 50mm Canon lens that can be used.
